A short tutorial article that shows you how to issue digital gift cards from Lavu POS.
Digital gift cards can now be sold from the Lavu POS. Before this can be done, your account must first be onboarded onto Lavu Gift, and our Customer Management features. Reach out to our customer support team to have a Lavu Admin properly set up your account for issuing digital gift cards.
Collect Customer Information
Digital gift cards are sent to your customers through their email address. To collect their email address, you will need to use Lavu's customer management feature to create a customer profile. Once that profile has been created, it can be re-used for any future digital gift cards they purchase.


This sign up form can be customized in the Control Panel under the Users/Customers page in Settings.
We also recommend adding a custom field to your user sign up form to allow custom notes to be added when a digital gift card is purchased.

Selling Digital Gift Cards
When you are selling these gift cards from the POS, you will ring up, and have your customer pay for their gift card like any other order. After the payment is collected, you will be asked how you would like to load the balance onto the card. Select Swipe/Enter Manually.

When selling a physical gift card, at this point you would simply swipe through your card reader. For selling digital gift cards, you need to type in 55555. This will generate a unique 24 digit gift card number that will be sent to the customer's email address.

Press Go, the order will be closed, and an email will be sent to the customer with their gift card.

Important Note: At this time, digital gift cards CANNOT be reloaded. They can only be sold once, and then used until their balance is $0.00.
Redeeming Digital Gift Cards
To redeem digital gift cards, simply tap on your Gift Card payment method on the checkout screen, and select Scan your card.

This will turn on your iPad's rear facing camera, allowing to scan the bar code from the customer's email.
Emailing Customers Their Gift Cards From the Control Panel
If your customer does not receive the email with their gift card, you can manually send it to them from the Control Panel.
Navigate to the Gift & Loyalty Cards page, and then click on History & Tracking. This will give you a list of your most recently sold gift cards, along with an action on the right to send an email to the customer with their gift card information.
