An article detailing troubleshooting steps you can take if your LANE 3000 card reader fails to take transactions.
The LANE 3000 is an EMV card reader from Ingenico that accept card payments through card swipes, insert (EMV), or tap to pay (Apple Pay, Google Wallet, etc.). If you find that the reader is not responding or accepting card transactions, here are some simple steps you can try to quickly resolve the issue.
Check the Reader Status
The status of the reader will be displayed on the front screen. It will either say Connected or Not Connected. When the reader says Not Connected, check the ethernet cable connecting your card reader to your switch/router.
You may also want to try a new cable if at all possible. Older cables are more prone to general wear and tear. However, before replacing a cable, make sure that it isn't a simple case of loose cables. When reconnecting an ethernet cable, you should hear an audible click. This lets you know that the cable is fully inserted and will be held in place by the plastic clip attached to both ends of an ethernet cable.
Give the reader a moment to connect to your network and then the internet. Once reconnected, the status of the reader will change to: Connected.
Check the Serial Number
Another simple troubleshooting step is to verify your POS iPad is connected to the reader you are trying to use.
In the POS, navigate to Settings, then Card Reader Settings. Here you will see the serial number of the card reader your POS is currently connected to. If you have multiple LANE 3000 readers, it may be the case that you are connected to a different reader than the one you are physically close to.
Use the serial number displayed on the POS to cross reference the serial number on the back of the card reader.
The serial number of the card reader is located on the back of the device.
Unpair the Device
If you are still having issues with your card reader, you will want to unpair the reader from the POS, and then reconnect it.
In the POS, navigate to Settings, then tap on Card Reader Settings. This is is the same place you went to check the Serial Number of the card reader you are connected to. Also here, is a blue button labeled Disconnect. Tap this to unpair your POS tablet from the card reader.
After it is unpaired, you may also want to log out of Lavu and force close the app (double tap the home button on the iPad and swipe up on the Lavu POS app).
Log back in and reconnect the reader in the same place we disconnected it. Simply tap Connect to have the POS discover available card readers over your network. Tap on your device when it appears in the list.
