Section 7.2.2: PRINTERS / KDS - Printers / KDS

Aside from enabling Direct Printing, actually configuring your printers / KDS's is the most important step in getting your location printing. Remember Lavu recommends Epson Printers, but also supports Star Micronics Printers.

NOTE: You will need to ensure your printers are set to static IP Addresses before continuing.

NOTE: KDS Lavu has a slightly different Set Up Process.

NOTE: KDS Pro also has a modified Set Up Process.

1. Log in to your Admin Control Panel ( and navigate to Settings > Printers / Technical > Printers / KDS.





2. Scroll down to the Printers / KDS section; Click Add New to add a new printer or click the printer name of an existing printer to modify its settings.

3. Select an appropriate Setting from the drop-down menu.

  • Receipt - Receipt25: Select this setting for printers that will be used for printing customer receipts.
  • Kitchen - Kitchen25: Select this setting for printers that will be used for printing Orders to the kitchen.

NOTE: No two printers can have the same Setting; if this happens both printers will cease to print.

4. Name the printer.

NOTE: The name of the printer should be specific enough for you to know which printer is which (i.e. Front Counter, Expediter Station, Fry Station, etc)..

5. Enter the Port number.

NOTE: The standard port for Epson and Star Micronics printers is 9100.

6. Select the Printer Type form the drop-down menu.

7. Select the Model of the printer from the drop-down menu.

NOTE: If you are using the Epson TM-T88V-i then you will need to select the Lavu Controller pair mode from the drop-down menu that appears.

8. Enter the Characters Per LineCharacters Per Line (large font), and Line Spacing in the appropriate text boxes.

9. Select the Image Capability (if any) from the drop-down menu.

10. Enable or Disable Perform Status Check (Epson and Star only); this will increase or decrease necessary communication between your iDevices and printers.

11. Enable or Disable Print each item on it's own individual ticket.

12. Enter a name in the Provide a Grouping Label (for reports) text field.

13. If setting up a Kitchen Printer with a compatible Kitchen Buzzer, select the Number of times to sound beeper when sending kitchen tickets (3.0+) from the drop-down menu.

14. Click SAVE to save your changes then Reload Settings on all your iDevices running the Lavu POS App.
