FAQ: Delivery Charges

Lavu provides multiple options for configuring and applying Delivery Charges to an Order. Choosing the correct option depends on whether the Delivery Charge needs to be a percentage, fixed amount or open amount.

MANUAL GRATUITY - PERCENTAGE

The Gratuity function can be repurposed for use as a Delivery Charge and applied to orders manually as necessary.

Configuring GRATUITY as a DELIVERY CHARGE

1. Gratuity configuration settings are accessible from the Control Panel (admin.lavu.com) by navigating to Settings > Location Settings > Advanced Location Settings.

2. Scroll down to the Check Out Options section. 

3. The "Minimum guests to add gratuity automatically" setting will only affect auto-gratuity. This setting is not relevant to configuring a Delivery Charge option using manual gratuity.

4. Designate a "Gratuity Percent" for the charge, in decimal format.

5. Rename the "Gratuity label" to "Delivery Charge", "Delivery Fee", etc.

6. Select an "Access Level required to manually toggle Gratuity". (See here for Access Level Details).

7. Select the appropriate "Tax and Gratuity Calculation Scheme". 

8. Select the appropriate "Subtotal on which to base auto gratuity".  (This will affect both auto and manual gratuity).

9. Submit changes from the bottom of the page.

10. Reload Settings on all iOS devices.

 

Applying a percentage-based DELIVERY CHARGE

The following images demonstrate how to utilize the Manual Gratuity / Delivery Charge on the Lavu application:

1. Take the order to the Check Out screen. 

2. Select "Delivery Charge".

A percentage-based Delivery Charge will be added to the order.

 

MENU ITEM - FIXED AMOUNT

A menu item of a predetermined amount may be created and applied as a Delivery Charge in the same manner as any other item.

Creating a fixed amount MENU ITEM

1. From the Control Panel, navigate to Menu > Menu Items.

2. Select a Menu Group and Category, such as Universal > Miscellaneous.

4. Click Add Item, then input an Item Name and Price.  Select Save.  

*A Tax Profile can be applied to the Delivery Charge item if necessary. Click here for details.

5. Reload Settings on all iOS devices.

 

Applying a fixed amount DELIVERY CHARGE

1. From the Order screen, select the "Delivery Charge" item.

 

A Delivery Charge will be added to the order.

 

MENU ITEM - OPEN AMOUNT

An open menu item may also be created for Delivery Charges of a variable amount.

Creating an open amount MENU ITEM

1. From the Control Panel, navigate to Menu > Menu Items.

2. Select a Menu Group and Category, such as Universal > Miscellaneous.

3. Click Add Item, then input an Item Name.  Leave the Price field blank.

4. Select Item Details and choose Open Item "Price Only".  ("Name/Price" will ask for both an item name and price, "Price Only" will only ask for a price).  Click Apply, then Save

5. Reload Settings on all iOS devices.

 

Applying an open amount DELIVERY CHARGE

1. Tap the "Delivery Charge" item.

2. Enter the item’s price, then select Go.

A Delivery Charge of the designated amount will be added to the order.
