Hold & Fire

A short article showing how Hold & Fire works in Lavu POS

Hold & Fire is a way your wait staff can help pace the kitchen with what food needs to be prepared.

Essentially, severs will have the ability to delay when items are sent to the kitchen by setting a timer. When that time expires, those items will automatically be sent to the kitchen. No further action by the server will be needed.

Before you can use Hold & Fire, you must first enable it in your Lavu Control Panel. Log into the Control Panel (cp.poslavu.com), and navigate to Advanced Location Settings. Under General Interface Settings, you will find the following setting to enable Hold & Fire.


With the setting enabled, you will now find Hold & Fire on your POS.


With items added to your order, you can use Hold & Fire to automate when these items are sent to the kitchen.



If you select the infinity symbol, the item will be held indefinitely. In this case, a sever must manually send the item to the kitchen.

If you select the custom option, you will be prompted to enter your time (in minutes) as a decimal number. So 8.5 would hold the item for 8 minutes and 30 seconds.


You are able to change the default times in the Control Panel, through User/Customers settings in the Control Panel.
