      Tip Engine V2

      A short article explaining how Lavu handles Tips and Gratuity.

      Lavu is able to handle tips and gratuity in two distinct ways: separately or combined. By default, Lavu separates these two on your server summaries. If you would like these to be combined, follow the steps below:

      1. Log into your Lavu Control Panel.
      2. On the left hand side, click on Settings and select Location.
      3. At the top of the screen, click on Advanced Location Settings.
      4. Scroll down to the section labeled Reports, and enable the two settings below.

      Now, when server summaries are printed, the number next to Gross Tips and Net Tips will include Auto-Gratuity.

      Note: The number next to Server owes House is calculated by subtracting Card Tips from Cash Sales. In the example above, Server Owes House = (Cash Sales + Tip Refunds) - (Card Tips).

      For ease of use, you can refer to the number next to Net Tips, as the amount of tips your server should be cashed out. The rest should be tipped out to your other employees, or returned to the restaurant.
