Assigning Printers To Modifiers

A short article showing you how to assign your modifiers to specific kitchen printers that differ from your menu items.

Lavu allows you to assign specific printers to your forced and optional modifiers. This allows you to send your menu items to one kitchen printer, while your forced and optional modifiers are sent to a separate printer entirely.

Refer to our Basic Printer Setup article for assistance with the initial setup of your kitchen printers.

In the forced and optional modifiers pages, you will see a button titled Mod List Details. This is where you can assign a printer to your modifier list.

This screen consists of two dropdown menus.

The first dropdown allows you to change the default printer your modifiers are sent to. Item Printer is the default option, and sends the modifier to the same printer as your menu item. The other options here will be your kitchen printers.

The second dropdown determines which printer(s) your modifiers will be sent to.

  1. Print in Item Printer Only is the default option, and will send modifiers along with your menu item.
  2. Print in Modifier Printer Only will send your modifiers to the printer you have selected in the modifier printer dropdown.
  3. Print in Both Printers will send your modifier to the same printer as your menu item, as well as the printer you have selected above.

Here is an example that shows how you would set your modifiers to send to a different printer than your menu item.
