A short article showing you how to create standard discounts in the Lavu Control Panel
Offering discounts to your customers is a great way to create repeat business, and give back to members of your community. Whether you are creating a discount for military members or students, the process in Lavu is quite simple.
Start by logging into you Lavu Control Panel (cp.poslavu.com). Click on Settings and then Payment on the left hand side. At the top of the page, click on Discount Types.
Click the green Add New button to create a new discount.
Discount Type - Select Standard from this dropdown. Click here to learn more about creating discounts with Lavu Loyalty.
Button Title - Provide a name for your discount. This is what your cashiers and servers will see on the POS.
Receipt Label - Provide a name for your receipts. This is what your customers will see on printed checks and receipts.
Calculation Type - Select either Percentage or Amount, depending on what kind of discount you are creating.
Discount - Set the actual discount you are giving. For percentage based discounts, be sure to enter this number as a decimal (0.15 would be a 15% discount).
Apply To - Set whether this discount can be applied to an entire check, only individual items, or both. The most common setting used is Both.
Access Level - Set an access level required to apply this discount. For more general discounts like military or student discounts, you should set this to 1. For manager discounts or entire meal comps, we recommend setting this to at least level 2.
Prompt for a reason - Enable this setting if you are creating a more generic discount. You will want your cashiers to enter why someone is receiving a discount. If you are creating something like a military or student discount, you can leave this setting disabled.
The rest of the settings are only relevant to Lavu Loyalty discounts.
Don't forget to click Save at the bottom when you are finished.
